Magic Debut
NewsMore than 227,000 passengers celebrated Carnival Magic’s delivery, in possibly the biggest toast ever.
An estimated 227,000 passengers took part in what is believed to be the largest celebratory toast ever held at sea on Saturday, when cruising conglomerate Carnival Corporation & plc welcomed its 100th vessel.
Built in Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard in Italy, Carnival Magic is the new 130,000-ton liner for Carnival Cruise Lines and is also the 23rd ship in its fleet; a ship from which will arrive in Australia for a full-time deployment from October 2012.
Currently, Carnival Magic is sailing her debut voyage – a nine-day Mediterranean cruise from Venice to Barcelona – after her spectacular naming ceremony by Lindsey Wilkerson, a Carnival Cruise Lines ambassador.
As for the toast at sea, Champagne was on the house for the passengers aboard all the vessels in the 10 cruise lines operated by Carnival Corp. & plc, including P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises, Cunard Line and Seabourn.
