Azamara Journey will be making an eight-night return voyage from New York to the place where the Titanic went down (2,092km west of the city), on April 10, 2012.

The ‘100th Anniversary Memorial Cruise’ has been arranged by UK company Miles Morgan Travel, which chartered the vessel (along with Fred Olsen CruisesBalmoral) for passengers who wish to be at the site of the Titanic’s sinking on April 15, exactly one hundred years after the tragedy took place – Balmoral will depart on April 8, 2012, from Southampton on a journey to the same location.

Accompanying the passengers and providing insights into life on board the Titanic will be Bill Miller, an ocean liner historian; Günter Bäbler, author of several books on the topic; Ken Marschall, who is recognised as the world’s foremost Titanic artist; and William Wright, former captain of the Titanic’s contemporary equivalent, Oasis of the Seas – along with her sister Allure of the Seas, the world’s biggest ships.

Azamara Journey will also stop in Halifax, which played a key role in the tragedy’s aftermath.
