In 50 years she carried 1.25 million passengers, docked 75,000 times and travelled three million nautical miles.
Hurtigruten’s MS Lofoten is celebrating her 50th birthday this month, making it the oldest and smallest ship in the line’s fleet.
The vessel originally launched in 1964 when she made her maiden voyage on 5 March from Bergen.
To commemorate the occasion, the line commenced an anniversary voyage from Bergen late last week.
Throughout the voyage the line will display an exhibition of photos on board taken over the 50 years, local and fresh food will be provided to guests and an anniversary menu reminiscent of the 1960s will be served one evening.
Additionally, anyone born in 1964 can book a journey on the ship for half price when accompanied by another passenger.
MS Lofoten’s next ‘Classic Voyage North’ from Bergen to Kirkenes departs on 4 April. Prices start from £834 per person, twin share for an inside cabin.
