Evergreen christens Emerald Star
NewsEvergreen Tours has officially christened its latest ship, Emerald Star.
The ship has been sailing in European waters since June this year, following the launch of sister-ship, Emerald Sky.
The official naming ceremony took place during an intimate event in Vienna overnight, with US travel agent veteran, Joannie Ogg performing godmother duties.
Ms Ogg specialises in consulting and speaking on the topic of selling travel remotely. She also owns an online portal for travel professionals with her husband, Tom Ogg.
She has also been voted ‘Travel Agent of the Year’ by her peers and has received two ‘Lifetime Achievement Awards’ from Travel Trade Magazine.
Emerald Star is the second of Evergreen Tours’ ‘Star-Ships’. She carries 182 passengers in 72 suites and cruises between Amsterdam and Budapest.
She has two cabins built specifically for solo cruisers and has a heated swimming pool with a retractable roof onboard. There are also two restaurants – Reflections the main dining room and The Terrace, which serves breakfast and lunch.
Early next year, Evergreen will launch two more ‘Star-Ships’ – Emerald Sun and Emerald Dawn.
