Double christening for Emerald Waterways
NewsEmerald Waterways held a very special dual christening for two of its ships – the Emerald Sun and Emerald Dawn – in Budapest last week.
Godmothers from the UK and US travel industries, Julie Kendrick (Emerald Sun) and Kelly Bergin (Emerald Dawn) carried out their duties in christening the line’s two newest vessels.
The new ships carry 182 guests in 72 suites and 20 staterooms including two rooms built for sole occupancy.
The ship also features an onboard heated swimming pool with retractable roof, which transforms into a movie theatre in the evening; two restaurants – Reflections, the main dining room, and The Terrace which serves breakfast and lunch; new cabin designs with a new indoor balcony complete with decked area and an open-air system.
There is also an onboard hairdresser, massage therapy room and fitness area.
Godmother, Ms Kendrick has worked in the travel industry for over 25 years and started out as a counter sales staff at Co-operative Travel. She rose through the industry’s ranks to become Head of Commercial at Midcountries Co-operative Travel.
While Ms Bergin also has more than 25 years of experience in the travel industry and was recently named the President of OASIS, a national affiliation of independent travel consultants.
The fares include all transfers to and from the ships; all onboard (and some on-shore) meals; unlimited tea and coffee; wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner; bottled water in the cabins; continental breakfast; free use of on-board bicycles; WiFi onboard the ship; gratuities; most shore excursions and more.
