Costa Cruises is almost doubling its capacity in the Caribbean, with plans to send a second ship to Miami.

Revealed at the annual conference, Cruise Shipping Miami, the 2,114-passenger Costa Mediterranea will join 2,260-passenger Costa Luminosa in the city from 12 December 2014.

Her arrival marks the first time Costa has had two ships based out of Florida in over five years. She also adds 94 percent extra capacity for the line out of the Caribbean.

Costa Luminosa will sail 10-night itineraries calling at Nassau, Bahamas; Grand Turk; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Roatan, Honduras; and Cozumel, Mexico.

Costa Mediterranea will have seven-day cruises, but the itineraries are still being finalised.
