CIC Ships Arrested
NewsClassic International Cruises’ Athena and Princess Danae have been arrested in the French port of Marseilles for reportedly failing to pay crew wages and fuel costs.
According to Cruise Critic, the Arion was also arrested in Montenegro for similar reasons.
Athena had been chartered by a Belgian tour company, All Ways, when the arrest occurred, with all passengers returned to Belgium.
A spokesperson for Classic International Cruises’ Australian office preferred not to comment with the incident believed to not directly affect the Australian market.
“All Australian programs and itineraries are proceeding as planned,” Susanne Hunter told e-Travel Blackboard this morning.
“Athena is currently undergoing a drydock in Marseille as scheduled,” she continued.
