Celebrity Century to exit Celebrity fleet
NewsCelebrity Cruises has announced its oldest ship, Celebrity Century, will exit the fleet in April 2015.
The 19-year-old passenger vessel’s departure will leave the line with ten ships including five Solstice-class ships, four Millennium-class ships and an Xpedition ship.
Celebrity has not yet revealed what it plans to do with Century after April next year.
However, the company says it is planning a year of special events on board the ship in the lead up to her departure.
Among the plans is a ‘Celebration of the Century’ cruise, which will feature an appearance from Celebrity president Michael Bayley.
The 14-night Asia sailing departs 8 March 2015 from Singapore and includes calls to Vietnam and the Philippines.
There will also be exclusive on board programming and special offers for guests throughout its farewell seasons in Alaska, Australia, the South Pacific and Asia.
Celebrity Century first launched in 1995 as the first Century-class ship. She is the line’s co-flagship, along with Celebrity Constellation and Celebrity Solstice.
In addition to her passenger duties, she was also the setting for the filming of The Nanny’s season three episode ‘Ship of Fran’s’.
