According to critics, the latest film in the Chipmunk franchise, Alvin and the Chipmonks: Chipwrecked will delight children while causing serious mental injury to their carers.
Released in Australian cinemas on January 1, 2012, the film follows Alvin, the Chipmunks, Chipettes and their manager/‘dad’ Dave (Jason Lee) on a cruise holiday on which Dave is hoping to experience a much needed break. Things don’t go to plan and after a hang-gliding stunt they are all lost at sea before being washed up on a desert island.
Despite the warnings, cruise enthusiasts may find themselves acquiescing to the pleadings of children and grandchildren. The movie was filmed on Carnival Dream and features numerous scenes shot within the ship’s expansive outdoor recreation areas.
Tropical ports on Carnival Dream’s western Caribbean itinerary, including Cozumel, Roatan, Belize and Costa Maya, also provide a backdrop for many of the movies shipboard scenes.
That said, to properly appreciate this, Chipmunk screening earplugs are advisable.
