All Leisure Holidays has announced an investment of £35 million across its three cruise lines: Voyages of Discovery, Swan Hellenic and Hebridean Island Cruises.

“It’s pointless whinging about the market, we have to move forward and plan for a better product to attract new customers,” said Roger Allard, All Leisure Holidays’ executive chairman.

The cruise lines’ ships will receive significant upgrades and, in the spring and autumn of 2012, Hebridean Island Cruises will charter the recently renovated Royal Crown river ship for a river cruise program of four seven-night itineraries along the Rhine and Danube rivers.

A total of £10 million pounds will be spent on Swan Hellenic’s 350-passenger Minerva, with six cabins removed to free up space, balconies added to 32 cabins, new ensuite facilities and a number of public area upgrades, including a new observation lounge and a walk-round promenade deck.

Have you sailed on Minerva? If so, do you think the upgrade is a good idea?
