Violence in the Middle East towards anti-government protestors leads to new cruise itinerary changes.

As pro-democracy protestors clash with government authorities across the Middle East, at least one more cruise line has amended its itineraries to avoid the demonstrations – the time in Bahrain.

Costa Cruises announced yesterday that its ships Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa would avoid calls to Bahrain City from this weekend until travel authorities declare it safe to do so.

“Costa Cruises will resume calling at Bahrain only when the relevant international authorities and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have declared stability and safety have been restored to the region,” Costa Cruises said in a statement.

This weekend’s itineraries will instead include an extra day in Dubai, while, although the revised itineraries have not yet been finalised for next week, passengers on board Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa will most likely overnight in Muscat, Oman or Abu Dhabi.

If you’re affected by these changes, or are unsure if your upcoming cruise will be affected, we advise you to contact your travel agent.
