The highly anticipated launch of Avalon’s new Panorama will take place this Saturday in Mainz, Germany at 5pm local time.

Dubbed Europe’s first “suite ship” this double decker river cruiser carries just 166 guests in 83 accommodations, some of which boast the innovative wall-to-wall panoramic windows which can be opened or closed giving guests options in how to view the passing scenery. Panorama will operate the 15-day Magnificent Europe itinerary on the Danube and Rhine Rivers between Amsterdam and Budapest.

After a christening ceremony by the popular television host Lisa Wilkinson, who is also the ship’s godmother, Panorama embark enjoy a short cruise to Amsterdam via some popular river cruising destinations, to introduce her to various media and travel agents from Australia and Europe.

Cruise Passenger’s social media editor, Joanna Hall, will be on board reporting on all of the festivities after launch this Saturday, and will also give us an up-close-and-personal tour of the ship in her blog the following Tuesday, so stay tuned!
