APT has officially christened its newest ship, AmaSonata, which set sail on her first voyage in April this year.

The 164-passenger ship was in Vilshofen, Germany yesterday for the special event, which was attended by APT and AmaWaterways staff, guests and government officials.

The traditional ceremony included a Bavarian lunch, live Bavarian music and waltzes.

The ship’s Canadian Godmother, Brenda Kyllo, blessed the ship and broke a bottle of champagne on its hull.

“In March we welcomed the AmaReina, and now we are thrilled to officially welcome her sister ship, the AmaSonata, to our expanding fleet of European riverships,” APT general manager marketing and sales Debra Fox said.

“Both ships offer the most innovative and luxurious facilities, including twin balcony suites, chef’s table fine dining and their very own fleet of bicycles, to name but a few.”

AmaSonata is a sister ship to AmaPrima, AmaCerto and AmaReina.

Each ship carries 164 passengers and features spacious staterooms and suites, multiple dining venues, onboard massage and salon services, a heated swimming pool, a swim-up bar and a fitness room.
