Allure of the Seas to undergo early repairs
NewsRoyal Caribbean has cancelled an Allure of the Seas sailing to perform unscheduled repairs on the world’s biggest ship.
The ship will undergo repairs on the week of 24 February 2014 at Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport. This forces the line to cancel its 23 February 2014 sailing.
Affected guests will receive 100 percent refund, or the option to sail on select itineraries at the same rate.
Additionally, adjustments will also be made to the ship’s eastern Caribbean itineraries. Allure of the Seas will now call on Nassau, Bahamas, from 7:00am to 1:00pm and on Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, from 11:00am to 5:00pm. There will be no changes to its western Caribbean itineraries.
According to Royal Caribbean, the ship has experienced unanticipated bearing wear in one of its three propulsion motors.
The line assures the issue has no impact on the safety or the maneuverability of the ship. However, Royal Caribbean has placed a limit on top speed to prevent further wear.
Royal Caribbean president Adam Goldstein explained the line understands guests’ holiday time is precious, but it is important for the ship to undergo the necessary repairs.
“We sincerely regret that we will be unable to deliver the Royal Caribbean cruise holiday that our guests were looking forward to,” Mr Goldstein said.
