Next month work begins in Ho Chi Minh City on the RV Saigon Pandaw. The new river ship will join Pandaw’s Mekong fleet in December 2011, so the company will have four vessels plying between Saigon in Vietnam and Angkor in Cambodia.
The Saigon will be identical in design to the Orient and Indochina, the new generation Pandaws built over the past two years in Vietnam. These have 30 main and upper deck staterooms of 200 square feet and combine colonial and modern design.
The Saigon will be the seventh vessel in the Pandaw fleet. The cruise line also operates river expeditions in Burma and Malaysian Borneo.
Pandaw pioneered river cruising on the Mekong in 2003 and over the years this sector has become increasingly popular among cruisers, with more Australians and Americans visiting the region ever year. Pandaw is planning future river expeditions for Indonesia and Laos.
