Norwegian Cruise Line has two new ships scheduled for delivery in April 2012 and April 2014. The Project Breakaway ships, however, are presently nameless.
Not for long.
‘Norwegian’s Cruising for Names’ contest have made sure of that.
A total of 230,000 competition entries were received over a period of four weeks. Incredibly, the winners receive nothing more than a trip for two to the ships’ inaugural festivities, including accommodation and meals on board.
“We received an overwhelmingly positive response to our naming contest, showing the passion and enthusiasm cruisers have for our new ships,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian’s chief executive officer. “We thank everyone who took the time to reflect on a name for our ships.”
The two winning names will be announced tomorrow (September 13).
What do you think the ships should be called – or did you enter the competition?
