Cyprus-based Louis Cruises has released plans to start a new cruise brand that will offer “authentic Greek experiences”.
Celestyal Cruises is scheduled to launch in September using two of the line’s existing ships.
Louis Cristal and Louis Olympia will be repainted using colours of the new subsidiary brand. They will also be used on new itineraries in 2015 departing from Piraeus and Lavrion.
Further details, including brand colours and cruise routes, will be announced at the launch in September.
The line’s chief executive Kyriakos Anastassiadi said Celestyal stems from the word celestial, which is Greek for divine, which reflects the real Greek experience guests will enjoy.
“Louis Cruises has also chosen this name to honor its ancestors, the Ancient Greeks, who were among the first peoples to use celestial navigation – by the third century BC; Greek mariners were using the Little Bear to navigate their ships,” he said.
Meanwhile, Louis Cruises will also continue to operate.
