Norwegian’s 250-acre Bahamian private island, Great Stirrup Cay, will now feature a new ‘Stingray Encounter’, ‘Fate of the Fancy Snorkel Adventure’ and Patron’s ‘Lighthouse Beach Bar’ as part of its USD$30 million enhancement program.

Located inside Bertram’s Cove on the right hand side of the main beach, the ‘Stingray Encounter’ will allow passengers to feed, watch and hold 18 specially-trained stingrays in an enclosed environment, with the added option of a complimentary mask, snorkel and snorkel vest to experience the rays underwater.

The hour-long encounter includes 45-minutes of interaction and will be priced at USD$29 per adult and USD$19 per child.

The legend of the ‘Fancy’ shipwreck will be depicted in the “Fate of the Fancy Snorkel Adventure” that will allow guests to explore and look for clues leading to the treasure that  the ‘Fancy’ was believed to have been carrying en route from Nassau, before it encountered the mythical half-shark, half-octopus, ‘Lusca’ in 1696.

17 different underwater scenes depicting the shipwreck and Lusca’s legend will include authentic artefacts dated at over 300 years old and eco-friendly replicas including cannons, a sunken piano and treasure chests.
