Holland America’s ms Volendam will receive 21 new lanai staterooms and a new bar area when she receives an upgrade this year.
Entering dry-dock from 8-22 December, the existing outside staterooms will be converted into lanai accommodation, which feature large sliding-glass doors with direct access to the Lower Promenade and reserved deck chairs.
The rooms will not reduce the ship’s capacity of 1,432-passengers.
Volendam’s centrally located bars will be reconfigured into a contemporary bar area called Mix.
The space incorporates three specialty theme bars: Martinis, Champagne and Spirits & Ales.
True to their titles, Martinis will serve cocktails and 19 Grey Goose martinis in individual shakers; Champagne will offer a selection of 20 champagnes and sparkling wines; and Spirits & Ales will have beers and premium whiskeys and brandies.
The line’s executive vice president of sales, marketing and guest relations Richard Meadows said Mix will be the spot onboard where guests mingle.
Other changes to the ship include updated bathrooms in all suites and selected staterooms.
