Cunard is giving Sydney-siders the opportunity to witness a ‘Royal Rendezvous’, when the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria meet on Sydney Harbour in 2015.
Announced as part of the cruise line’s 2015 world cruise program, the two ships are planned to meet on 12 March, before the Queen Mary 2 departs the city on her 13-night circumnavigation of New Zealand.
New itineraries will see all three Cunard liners stop by Australia and New Zealand and feature Queen Elizabeth’s maiden call to Yorkey’s Knob off Cairns on 9 March 2015 and Queen Victoria’s first call to Akaroa on 17 March.
Another special note for Australians and New Zealanders will be Queen Elizabeth’s special Anzac sailing through the Gallipoli Peninsula on 24 March, after transiting the Suez Canal.
Other firsts on the 2015 itineraries include Queen Victoria’s maiden calls to Bora Bora, Puerto Limon, Rarotonga and San Juan, while Queen Mary 2 will make inaugural stops at Bandar Seri Begawan, Bitung and Sihanoukville.
Queen Mary 2 will also make her first call to Sanya in China on 19 February to ring in the Chinese New Year, and sail out in time for another Royal Rendezvous of all three ships in Southampton on 3 May.
The new programs will go on sale from 6 September and will encompass the three Cunard liners sailing to 83 destinations in 46 countries, with Queen Mary 2 offering a 113-night voyage, Queen Elizabeth sailing on a 112-night circumnavigation and Queen Victoria offering a 103-night exploration of the Pacific.
