It’s been 175 years since Cunard’s first transatlantic crossing – a cause for celebration in Liverpool, England, over the weekend.
Back in 1840, the cruise line’s first ship, Britannia, successfully sailed from Liverpool to Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada, in 14 days.
In honour of the milestone, Cunard has recreated the iconic crossing with Queen Mary 2; she embarked on the same voyage just after 10pm on July 4.
Before she set sail, onlookers were treated to a fireworks display over the Mersey.
