The round-trip voyage, which departs Kobe on April 27, 2012 and visits Shimoneseki, Busan (South Korea), Nagasaki and Okinawa, offers guests a chance to experience Japanese culture and history through its cuisine. Each port features a new dish, the history of which will be learnt and explored, providing a window into the country’s culture, art and ancient rituals. Knowledge gained will then be brought to life in its current context as guests shop for ingredients at vibrant local markets.
Back on board, expert chefs, including the celebrated Hideo Dekura, will teach guests how to bring it all together for the best tastes and most appealing presentation. All involved will then, of course, eat the dishes!
Hideo Dekura is a culinary consultant, food stylist and author whose contribution to the promotion of Japanese food and cooking was recognised in 2007 by a special award from the Japanese Government.
