A group of passengers from Celebrity Mercury were robbed at gunpoint while on an organised shore excursion, ‘Essential St. Kitts’, on Sunday, say Celebrity Cruises.

The 16 adults and one child were on a tour bus en route to Brimstone Hill, a UNESCO World Heritage site, when the driver stopped because of a fallen tree branch.

It appears the tree was set up as part of the robbery, and it was after the bus stopped that a group of bandits boarded the bus and demanded jewelry, cameras and money, reports say.

At present the robbers are still on the loose and Celebrity Cruises has said in a statement that they will work carefully with police in the area.

“We will work closely with law enforcement and government officials, which are taking steps to ensure the safety of everyone in St. Kitts, including visitors,” Celebrity Cruises said.

Although most of us have wonderful cruise holidays, we’re sure there are some bad experiences out there… Please tell us about them!
