American Cruise Lines has introduced a new itinerary that takes cruisers along the entire Mississippi River.
The 22-day Complete Mississippi Cruise will be offered from 8 August 2015 aboard the line’s forthcoming 150-passenger American Eagle.
Dubbed ‘the ultimate America river adventure’, the cruise starts in New Orleans and takes guests along the river to St Paul in Minnesota.
Port visits include Oak Alley, Baton Rouge, St Francisville, Natchez, Vicksburg, Memphis, Columbus, Paducah, Cape Girardeau, Chester, St Louis, Hannibal, Davenport, Dubuque, La Crosse and Red Wing in Minnesota.
Highlights of the cruise include a visit to civil war battlefields and century old churches, while dining in Creole and Cajun restaurants.
American Cruise Lines’ vice president Timothy Beebe said the itinerary came about after noticing a trend in cruisers booking back-to-back itineraries on the Mississippi.
“With this new offering, we provide a unique opportunity to travel the entire leg of the Mississippi River and experience the complete history of the western frontier,” he said.
The cruise is priced from $13,915 (US$12,180) per person twin share.
