Six celebrity chefs have teamed up once again to raise money for burn survivors, including Australian chef and TV personality, Matt Golinski, who tragically lost his wife and three daughters in a home fire on Boxing Day 2011.

Mr Golinski also suffered third-degree burns to over 40 per cent of his body and is currently undergoing substantial rehabilitation.

The fundraising campaign, known as ‘Cruise for Mates’, will help raise money for Mr Golinski and other burns victims through bookings on two luxury European river cruises.

The first cruise will be on MS Scenery and MS Creativity and goes through northern and southern France, from Paris to Port St Louis. Manu Fieldel, Alastair McLeod and Janelle Bloom will all be on board, so you can enjoy their company while travelling through Provence, Beaujolais and the French Riviera.

Passengers on the second voyage will travel from Amsterdam to Budapest on the brand-new MS Expression, which will launch next year. Hosts will include Masterchef judges George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan, as well as Ready Steady Cook regular, Damian Heads.

The ‘cruising for a cause’ fundraiser is the brainchild of Brisbane-based travel agent, Hilary Weir. Ms Weir was inspired by the success of the national fundraising campaign ‘Plates for Mates’, which also saw the six chefs raising money to support Mr Golinski.

“I first met the six chefs as part of a ‘Plates for Mates’ fundraising event and was so impressed by their genuine, ‘whatever it takes’ commitment to help their mate, Matt,” said Ms Weir. “They were so likeable, kind and generous – and loads of fun.”

Alastair McLeod said all of the chefs involved are looking forward to the trips and are excited to meet passengers who share their love of food and travel.

“None of us has ever been on a cruise before,” he said. “We’re all really excited about stopping off at the little villages along the way and exploring the local delicacies. I think we’re in for a real treat.”

The French cruise starts on June 17, 2013 and ends on July 5, 2013, to take advantage of the European summer. The second cruise departs from Amsterdam on August 27, 2013 and arrives in Budapest on September 13, 2013.

Who could resist combining a  luxury foodie river cruise with the chance to contribute to a very worthy cause?
