A new ship is on order for Costa Cruises, bringing the fleet up to 10 ships.
Only days after the technical launch of Costa Cruises newest ship, Costa Fascinosa, the cruise line has announced yet another cruise ship order.
The new 4,928-passenger, 132,500-ton ship is set to be the largest Italian cruise ship in operation. The order was placed with Fincantieri, marking the 10th Costa Cruises ship in 10 years to be built in the company’s Venice-based shipyard.
“This new order, the tenth in 10 years, not only consolidates the link between our Company and Fincantieri, but also demonstrates the leadership achieved by Costa Cruises in Europe and its ability to drive the cruise business and tourism in general,” said Pier Luigi Foschi, chairman and CEO of Costa Cruises.
Costa Cruises also confirmed that Costa Marina has been sold and will depart the Costa fleet in November 2011.
