Carnival Cruise Lines has commenced construction of its first Vista-class vessel, which will be the largest and most technologically advanced in the line’s fleet.
Carnival Vista’s first block was laid in the Italian shipyard Fincantieri this week.
When she is launched in 2016, she will replace Carnival Magic as the line’s flagship vessel.
Carnival Vista will be Carnival’s 25th vessel and will weigh 133,00 tonnes. She will carry 4,988 passengers – 357 passengers more than Carnival Dream, the largest ship in Carnival’s current fleet.
According to the shipyard, Carnival Vista will also set a new benchmark for cruise ship technology in Europe with innovative lay-out and high quality technical solutions.
Details of what will be onboard as well as renderings of the ship will be released closer to her release.
