Celebrity Solstice breaks record arriving in NewcastleNahrain John·10 Mar 2014News·0 Comments·0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Celebrity Solstice has broken the record for the largest cruise ship visiting Newcastle. She arrived on Sunday 9 March and at 317 metres long, she broke the record by just two metres. Novocastrians gave her a rockstar welcome and lined Newcastle’s foreshore to which the captain of the Celebrity Solstice responded with a few more healthy blows of the horn. Mayor of Newcastle Jeff Cloy greeted guests as they disembarked later in the day and a Fort Scratchley gun was fired to honour the ship’s visit. Newcastle was the final destination for Celebrity Solstice after she completed an 18-night cruise from Perth. She will return to Newcastle in March next year.
