Celebrity Solstice bid farewell to Sydney yesterday following a stellar season for Celebrity Cruises in Australia.
Carrying over 38,500-passengers with sister ship Celebrity Millennium during her inaugural season Down Under, Solstice offered 12 sailings ranging from one- to 18- night cruises calling into 28 ports in seven countries and will now take her fresh green grass across the South Pacific to Honolulu ahead of a maiden season in Alaska.
45 percent of passengers during her maiden season derived from Australia and New Zealand, with Celebrity Cruises regional vice president and managing director Gavin Smith highlighting that each average turnaround of passengers meant an estimated contribution of AUD$8 million to the Australian economy.
Celebrity Solstice will return to Australia on 23 October 2013 where she will sail on 16 voyages taking in more of the South Pacific.
“Bookings for the 2013-2014 summer season have already commenced in earnest and, based on the experience of guests onboard Celebrity Solstice this season, we have enjoyed buoyant sales for Australians booking her sister ‘Solstice Class’ ships for holidays in Europe and the Caribbean,” Mr Smith said.
