Orion II launch kicks off with a christening by not one, but three godmothers!
A ceremony was held in Seattle on June 9 for the official naming of Orion Expedition Cruises’ newest ship, Orion II. Orion Expedition Cruises’ founder and managing director was on hand for the spectacle, which saw the new ship named by three godmothers.
Jill Bennette, Laurel Norris, and Shirley Turtle were chosen as godmothers because of their extensive history with the cruise line. Together, they have travelled on a combined total of more than 50 Orion voyages. That’s really impressive!
Sarina Bratton said, “We are expanding in order to meet the demand from past guests and new guests who seek stimulating adventures exploring paths less travelled.”
The next day, Orion II departed on her inaugural 24-night voyage from Vancouver to Otaru, Japan. After the inaugural voyage, she will sail to regions of Southeast Asia, Japan, and Russia later this year.
