Carnival Cruise Lines is taking its ‘Aussification’ to the next level by creating its own beer that will be served exclusively for Australian cruisers.
The company has teamed up with Sydney’s award winning Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel to launch its very own, Thirsty Frog Summer Ale.
The 100 percent natural ale takes its name from the Red Frog pubs featured across Carnival Cruise Lines’ fleet.
It will be on tap across 14 bars on the cruise line’s Sydney-based Carnival Spirit from 1 June 2014 and onboard Carnival Legend when she arrives for her first Australian season on 22 September.
Media were among the first to try the new beverage last night, and there was a unanimous subliminal thumbs up after the first sip.
The beverage has been created to satisfy even non-beer drinkers, with its subtle malt flavor and floral aroma.
Speaking at the event, vice president in Australia, Jennifer Vandekreeke said beer is a big part of Australian cruising.
It is currently the number one alcohol liquid consumed by Australian cruisers onboard Carnival Spirit and is followed closely by wine.
She said creating Carnival’s own line of beer acknowledges the Australian appreciate for a quality beer.
“Aussies are open to trying international flavours,” she said.
“Thirsty Frog Summer Ale is an authentic Australian beer, we’ve just added a Carnival touch.”
The Brewery’s managing director Blair Hayden said the beer is naturally brewed with no added sugars and preservatives.
“It’s perfect on its own or with a meal,” she said.
Sydneysiders can get an exclusive taste of Carnival’s first dip into beer making at the Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel on Kent Street, The Rocks, where Thirsty Frog Summer Ale will be served this week.
