War historian, former rugby player and best-selling author, Peter FitzSimons will sail onboard True North later this year, during a 10-night New Adventures in Paradise cruise to Papua New Guinea.
As the author of KOKODA – a homage to those who fought on the Kokoda Track – Peter will provide commentary to guests on the significance of PNG hostilities during World War II.
Guests will be able to interact with the author and ask questions about the site where Australians experienced heavy casualties trying to fight off Japanese attacks.
Departing 3 December, the itinerary features a heli-flight to the Kokoda Track Memorial at Isurava; and a charter flight from Cairns to Kavieng where guests will explore jungle-surrounded volcanoes, turquoise reefs and palm fringed beaches.
The 10-night trip also includes a visit to Louisiade Archipelago.
North Star Cruises general manager Peter Trembath said Peter’s presence will offer guests a holiday and an experience.
“Adding to our much loved activity-based repertoire, Peter will be on hand to provide commentary on the significance of PNG hostilities during World War II,” he said.
Prices for the cruise start from $15,695 per person twin share.
