Noble Caledonia has bought a second ship, Caledonian Sky. Formerly known as Renaissance VI, the ship is one of eight built by Renaissance in the early 1990s, all of which have been sold and are now serving as private yachts or in luxury and expedition cruising. Caledonian Sky’s sister ship, Island Sky, is one of these – formerly known as Renaissance VIII.
Caledonian Sky has also previously sailed as Herbridean Spirit and spent a short time with Star Cruises. In 2009 the ship is said to have had a major refit in Dubai to ready it for the private mega-yacht market – the ship was recently listed for sale on a number of yacht broker sites for 29.5 million euros.
Noble Caledonia will take possession of the vessel in May 2012.
Caledonian Sky will spend most of 2012 in British and Arctic waters, but is ultimately bound for South America, Australasia and the Pacific Rim.
