Star Clippers has announced the name of its new ship to be launched at the end of 2017. SPV Flying Clipper will be the world’s largest square rigger and the largest ship of its kind afloat today.

Flying Clipper will have three swimming pools (one of which will funnel light through the atrium into the dining room), a waterspouts platform and the popular bowsprit net for relaxing at the front of the ship. It will take 300 passengers in 150 cabins, including 34 suites with balconies.

Like the other ships in the Star Clippers fleet, the five-masted barque will primarily be powered by wind (though high tech engines will be onboard for backup).
